Five Pontianak Firefighters Soak While Fighting Fire At The Untan Hospital

JAKARTA - Five firefighters from Pontianak City experienced shortness of breath while on duty to extinguish the fire that burned a new building at the Pontianak Untan Hospital, West Kalimantan.

"It was recorded that five firefighters were rushed to the hospital for assistance because they were experiencing shortness of breath while trying to extinguish the fire at the Pontianak Untan Hospital," said Pontianak Fire Field Coordinator, Edi Zulkarnaen in Pontianak, Monday, August 29.

He explained that the smoke caused by the fire was very thick and thick, so some officers experienced shortness of breath due to lack of oxygen.

"Until now, we have not found a source of fire, because of the thick smoke in the building that experienced the fire, so we have to bring in special equipment so that officers can be closer to see the source of the fire," he said as quoted by Antara.

According to him, there were about a hundred officers and dozens of fire engines were deployed to extinguish the fire in the new building of Untan Pontianak Hospital, which has not yet been extinguished.

Meanwhile, Rudi, one of the residents, agreed II, said that the fire was strongly suspected of burning the remains of building materials on the ground floor.

He explained that it had been almost four hours that firefighters had tried to extinguish the fire, but the fire had not been extinguished.

"Even thick yellow smoke continues to billow, the smell of which is quite pungent, even if it is not strong, it can pass out," he said.

According to him, around this morning someone cleaned up the fire location. "Maybe it was completely finished and then the garbage was burned, so the fire spread like it is now," he said.
