The Meeting Of The Minister Of The G20, Indonesia Will Leader Action To Save Earth

JAKARTA - Indonesia will lead the action to save the earth at the meeting of ministers for the climate and environment of the G20 countries in Bali on August 31 in the hope of producing a joint agreement to take action to save the earth.

"We hope to produce a communique or agreement. We are continuing to negotiate and garner support from countries. We continue to emphasize that Indonesia can be trusted", said Environment and Forestry Minister, Siti Nurbaya, in a written statement quoted by ANTARA on Saturday, August 27.

Siti said there are three things that Indonesia will encourage in the G20 meeting at the climate and environmental levels. The first concerns support for a sustainable global recovery.

Second, regarding increasing environmental protection measures, both at the terrestrial and marine levels. Third, regarding collaboration between countries to mobilize resources in the context of accelerating environmental protection actions and handling climate change.

Siti said reaching a mutual agreement was not easy. This is because each country has its own values ​​and interests.

"Some are related to resource mobilization. For example, we encourage developed countries to lead. Some propose green shipping. But of course, it's a bit difficult for people's ports. This continues to be negotiated", she said.

In this case, said Siti, Indonesia as the presidency takes on the role of interface between developed and developing countries in the international forum.

Siti also emphasized that the G20 forum could be an opportunity for Indonesia to prove, both domestically and globally, that Indonesia has the capacity to lead actions to save the earth.

"The important thing about this agenda is that Indonesia is leading. There is a room where we can actualize Indonesia as well as possible. I think we will be the best hosts and of course with the maximum benefit for the Indonesian people", said Siti.

Later, the resulting agreement will be brought to a meeting at the head of state level for further discussion.

In the agenda that will take place in Nusa Dua, as many as 18 ministers and deputy ministers of the environment and climate will be present in person. In addition, there are more than 200 delegates who will also attend in person.

"Hopefully an agreement has been reached so that when it is brought to the level of the head of state it will be easier. At least find the right formulation for various parties", she said.
