West Sulawesi Governor's Office Destroyed By Earthquake Will Be Rebuilt, The Central Government Disburses A Budget Of IDR 103 Billion

MAMUJU - The office of the Governor of West Sulawesi (Sulbar) which was destroyed by the earthquake on January 15, 2021, will be rebuilt immediately. The central government disbursed a budget of IDR 103 billion.

The regional secretary (Sekda) of West Sulawesi, Muhammad Idris Dp, said the governor's office, which was damaged by the earthquake, would be built starting September 1, 2022.

He said the construction of the governor's office would cost up to IDR 103 billion from the state budget. Ensure that the budget has been prepared.

According to Idris, the construction of the new governor's office will take a year and be operational in September 2023.

Idris said that the construction of the governor's office was sought not to interfere with government activities, because the office was adjacent to a number of government offices.

"A barrier will be built, so that the activities of government offices in the vicinity are not disturbed," he said.

Meanwhile, land clearing for the governor's office area will soon be carried out because construction will begin soon.

According to Idris, the new West Sulawesi governor's office will no longer be built with a fourth floor like the previous governor's office which was damaged by the earthquake.

"The new building for the West Sulawesi governor's office is only three floors and will be designed to be earthquake-resistant," he said.

The Regional Secretary said that because the governor's office was damaged by the earthquake, the activities of the acting Governor Akmal Malik are currently occupying the Deputy Governor's house which has become the temporary governor's office, in order to provide government services to the community.

He hopes that with the construction of the new governor's office, government services in the future will return to maximum and run normally, to improve people's welfare.
