JAKARTA - The Head of Education and Education Personnel Division of the DKI Jakarta Education Office, Muh Roji, admitted that his party did not know about the alleged levies of extortion carried out by Disdik officials to individual work contract teachers (KKI) or honorariums.

Roji said that his party only found out about the alleged extortion after it was widely discussed. Therefore, Roji stated that the staff of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan would investigate the truth.

"When it comes to allegations of illegal levies, I don't know what the information is. We are currently investigating," said Roji when contacted, Wednesday, August 24.

So far, Roji said that his party had received information that the alleged extortion of the honorary teacher was in the East Jakarta Education Sub-department. The DKI Disdik will also ask for information from the teacher who is suspected of paying extortion to the person.

"We asked, who gave the money, how much," said Roji.

After receiving complete information, the DKI Disdik will identify the truth of the extortion levy, and then impose sanctions on the person.

"Judging from the results of the examination, if it is proven, it is clear that there are sanctions. When it comes to crime, then criminalize it. For ASN, the heaviest sanction is to be punished and dishonorably dismissed. For non-ASN, we will continue the criminal law to innocence," he explained

Previously, Edu Watch Indonesia (EWI) revealed allegations that DKI Jakarta Education Agency officials were making illegal levies (extortion) on individual work contract teachers (KKI) or honorariums.

EWI Executive Director Annas Fitrah Akbar said the appointment letter (SK) to the honorary teacher who paid the extortion was also genuine but fake (asphalt). In a sense, the contract recipient gets a SK but does not have a NIK KI as an honorary teacher.

Annas alleged that the person suspected of committing extortion was previously the Head of the PTK Sub-District Education Section of East Jakarta City I with the initials RW. This person also issued a decree for the appointment of honorary teachers.

Allegedly, the DKI Disdik official was attracting extortion of Rp. 5 million to Rp. 35 million per person. Based on the data that Annas received, there were 70 recipients of the decree who had to pay this extortion.

"The method is that a decree is allegedly given as asphalt because it is not accompanied by the provision of a NIK KI. This is clearly subject to Article 368 regarding Extortion and Article 263 in conjunction with 264 of the Criminal Code concerning Counterfeit Letters," said Annas.
