Family Of Portuguese Caucasians Who Died Falling On The Summit Of Mount Rinjani Refuse Autopsy

MATARAM - The family of Boaz Tan Anam, a foreign climber from Portugal who died as a result of falling from the top of Mount Rinjani on Friday (19/8) morning, refused to perform an autopsy on the body.

"Because the victim's family refused an autopsy, an external post-mortem was only carried out on the body," said Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police, Kombes Artanto, in Mataram, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 23.

Based on the results of the external examination of the body (visum et repertum), Artanto conveyed that the forensic team at Bhayangkara Mataram Hospital found serious injuries at a number of vital points on the body of the Israeli-born man.

"Such as in a fractured skull, fractures in the legs and arms. There are also fractures in the ribs," he said.

With this result, said Artanto, the forensic team at Bhayangkara Hospital Mataram has confirmed that these injuries were the cause of Boaz Tan Anam's death.

Currently, the police and the Bhayangkara Mataram Hospital are seeking the request of the family of Boaz Tan Anam to assist in the repatriation of the body to Portugal via Bali.

For the needs of repatriating the body, the family asked the forensic team at Bhayangkara Hospital Mataram to inject formalin-type preservative fluid into Boaz's body.

"The victim's family requested that the delivery of the body to Bali be carried out today. Now we are still working on it," continued Artanto.

The information that Boaz Tan Anam fell from the top of Mount Rinjani was first received by officers from the Mount Rinjani National Park Office. Boaz fell towards the slopes of the caldera of Lake Segara Anak, Mount Rinjani.

From the results of the identification, Boaz's body is located on the slopes of the mountains with a distance of about 150 meters from the peak of Mount Rinjani.

Evacuation was carried out by rescue workers until finally Boaz's body was secured and taken to the Bhayangkara Hospital in Mataram. Boaz's body arrived in Mataram on Monday (22/8) night.
