TANJUNGPINANG - Head of the Riau Islands Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu Kepri) Said Abdullah Dahlawi revealed that a number of political parties took the names of three non-PNS staff members who served in the Bawaslu of Tanjungpinang City, Batam City, and Anambas Islands Regency.

"There are three parties that have confirmed the identities of three Bawaslu staff members of Tanjungpinang, Batam, and Anambas as members of that party. Two old parties and one new party," Said said in Tanjungpinang, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 22.

Said was reluctant to name the three parties, including the names of three district/city Bawaslu staff who were designated as party members. However, his party has reported the matter to the RI Bawaslu, and has clarification to the relevant party management.

He ensured that the three district/city Bawaslu staff had never been members of a political party. They were actually surprised because their identity was entered as party members.

"We have taken steps after finding the profiteering of the names of three regency/city Bawaslu staff. We have asked for clarification from various related parties, including submitting the findings to the Riau Islands Provincial KPU," he said.

Said regretted that there were still political parties that used the names of the district/city Bawaslu staff. In fact, long ago he had repeatedly reminded party administrators not to smack someone's identity into becoming a party member.

According to him, political party administrators should choose party members who are competent and not at risk during verification by the Riau Islands KPU.

"It's a pity that people who don't know anything are suddenly listed as party members," he said.

Said explained that political parties have the opportunity to correct the data on members of political parties until August 29, 2022. He hopes that the same incident will not happen again.

"We can confirm that there are no names or identities of the Riau Islands Province Bawaslu members, as well as regencies and cities," he said.

Currently, he said, the Riau Islands Province Bawaslu ranks are still monitoring the factual verification of the requirements for candidates to participate in the 2024 General Election.

"Since August 16, 2022, we have supervised the verification of the requirements for candidates for election participants," he said.
