The Figure Of A Leader Has Become A Byword In A Coffee Shop, Puan Maharani: The Political Year Comes Early

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, feels that the political year that should have taken place in 2024 has come much sooner. The reason is that many people have talked about who is the right person to become a national leader.

This was conveyed by Puan during her introductory speech for the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 16. He said talks about politics took place on social media all over the country.

"We can all feel that the political year seems to be coming early. Talks about the succession of national leadership have become a topic on social media to coffee shops all over the country," said Puan in her speech broadcast on the DPR RI YouTube.

Even so, Puan reminded all parties to understand when the right time to compete. Do not let the split just because you want to win the general election (election).

"We certainly understand when to compete and when to side by side," he said.

"Let us build a joint commitment to carry out the democratic party safely, peacefully, joyfully, and without dividing the unity and integrity of the nation," continued the chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP.

Puan ensured that the state would provide space for the people to actively participate in the process of political contestation. Moreover, in the principle of democracy, every citizen has political rights to economic rights that must be fulfilled.

"In a democratic country there is room for people's participation," he said.

"The state ensures that the space for people's participation can be well-organized and unlimited. Democracy guarantees the participation of the nation's citizens in articulating political rights, social rights, cultural rights, and economic rights," he concluded.
