Caught But Chocolate Thief Threatens Alfamart Employees Using ITE Law, Alfamart: If Necessary Will Take Legal Steps

JAKARTA - Alfamart employees caught a woman taking chocolate bars out of the cashier without paying. The incident, which was caught on a cellphone camera, went viral on social media because the employee apologized to the woman.

Alfamart confirmed the incident experienced by its employees who work at Alfamart Sampora branch, Sampora Village, Cisauk District, South Tangerang. The incident occurred on Saturday 13 August.

"Our employees witnessed incidents of consumers who had taken goods without paying. After being asked to account, the consumer just paid for the chocolate that he had taken. From the employee's investigation, they found other products taken apart from chocolate," said Alfamart in a written statement, quoted from the Instagram account. official @alfamart, Monday 15 August.

The Alfamart employee was also threatened by the woman who was proven to have stolen it under the Information and Electronic Transactions Act or the ITE Law.

"Regarding the news that an Alfamart employee was threatened by the ITE Law by a consumer, it is true," he said.

Alfamart also regrets the unilateral action taken by the woman as a consumer to bring a lawyer so that Alfamart employees become depressed.

"Alfamart is conducting further internal investigations, and if necessary, will take further legal steps," said a statement from Alfamart.

A viral video of an Alfamart employee apologizing after finding a woman not paying for the chocolate she took from a minimarket window.

In the viral video, the woman was caught carrying chocolate bars without paying. He was caught by an Alfamart employee when he was in a Mercy car parked in the minimarket yard.

"Well I took [removing the chocolate from behind his body]," said the woman admitted her mistake.

The chocolate bars were then returned to Alfamart employees. He admitted that he had taken the chocolate past the convenience store cashier without paying.

A moment later the woman wanted to close the car door and was prevented by Alfamart employees. The woman then got out of the car to the cashier of the minimarket. "How do you get the chocolate, I see ma'am," said the Alfamart employee.

In a different video, the Alfamart employee is seen apologizing. He was flanked by a woman who was caught not paying for the chocolate and a lawyer.
