Komnas HAM Denies Competing With Police To Investigate Brigadier J's Death At Inspector General Ferdy Sambo's House

JAKARTA - Komnas HAM chairman Ahmad Taufan Damanik, denied that his party is said to be competing with the National Police in investigating the death of Brigadier Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J. the police, both the Timsus and investigators," said Taufan in his statement, Thursday, August 11.

He emphasized that so far Komnas HAM has always coordinated with the police in uncovering the veil of the death of Brigadier J.

"I need to reiterate, almost every day there is very good coordination between Komnas HAM and the National Police Headquarters, both the Timsus and the investigators," said Taufan. Both evidence and witnesses.

"On various occasions there were one-star, two-star and even three-star Generals from the National Police Headquarters who came to Komnas HAM who accompanied the examination or asked for information from Komnas HAM," he said.

Taufan stated that there was no competition between Komnas HAM and the National Police in revealing the facts of the shooting that killed Brigadier J at the shelter of the former Head of the Propam Division Inspector General Ferdy Sambo on July 8. According to him, so far Komnas HAM is independent in investigating the case of the death of Brigadier J.

"This is proof that between Komnas HAM and the National Police Headquarters there is no competition or overtaking with each other, or vice versa. Komnas HAM is assigned or served as spokesperson for the Indonesian National Police," he said.

"If we become police spokespersons, the viewers or the public will not see how our steps or our statements at the initial stage are actually contrary to the first releases issued by investigators, which were then the results of the initial investigation by Headquarters. The police under the Timsus also said there were various obfuscation steps, steps related to obstruction of justice," he continued.

Taufan emphasized that from the beginning Komnas HAM had played the role of opening the veil of investigation. By cooperating with the National Police Headquarters, he said, the case of Brigadier J's death was getting brighter.

"In fact, Komnas HAM played a role in opening the veil of the initial investigation, which then shifted the facts of the incident in such a way. Now with the cooperation between Komnas HAM and the National Police Headquarters, constructions are starting to be found that are closer to the actual facts," said Taufan Damanik.
