JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia has asked all political parties to comply with the rules when registering candidates for the 2024 Simultaneous Election.

This warning is a response after the incident when the Gerindra Party and PKB registered themselves at the KPU RI office on Monday, August 8, yesterday. Where there was pushing and shoving between the KPU security forces and the masses who participated in the group of the two political parties. "We will tighten it, and we will also anticipate the occurrence of mass concentration in front of the KPU office," said KPU RI member Idham Holik in his office, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, August 10. Not only the pushing action, the large number of mass sympathizers of the two political parties who took part in the registration procession, caused traffic jams around Jalan Imam Bonjol.

Therefore, Idham emphasized the matter of standard operating procedures (SOPs) that must be obeyed by political parties that wish to register today.

"In principle, we will enforce the SOP that those who can enter the KPU office during registration. First, 12 people who enter the 2nd floor. Second, 50 party members who follow or accompany political party leaders," he said.

Idham said his party had coordinated with the security forces to enforce the registration rules. The former member of the West Java KPU said that the RI KPU would also tighten security to keep the location around the RI KPU office conducive. So that the registration process at the KPU runs smoothly and comfortably for all parties.

"We have conveyed it to the leadership of the political parties, for us to maintain comfort in the registration process," said Idham.
