JAKARTA - Member of Commission IV of the House of Representatives Daniel Johan condemned the statement by Australian Senator Pauline Hanson who had insulted Bali over allegations of the spread of mouth and nail disease (PMK).

Pauline said, Bali is full of cow dung scattered on the road so it has the potential to become a place of transmission of the FMD outbreak.

"What Pauline Hanson said is not only inconsistent with the facts, but also has discredited Indonesia, especially Bali," said Daniel, Tuesday, August 9. "I think all parties can convey awareness regarding mouth and nail disease (PMK) in a better and scientific manner," he continued.

It is known, the viral video of Pauline Hanson who said that Bali was full of cows roaming the streets, thus threatening the health of tourists from their country.

The female founder and leader of Pauline Hanson's One National Party (PHON) alleges that cow dung sticks to the clothes and bodies of Australian tourists so that footwear sanitation is needed at her country's airports to prevent FMD from entering.

Daniel warned that all figures from friendly countries should respect Indonesia and not talk nonsense. Daniel considered that Pauline Hanson's accusation that the Balinese habit of raising cattle was the source of the spread of FMD that threatened their country had hurt the Indonesian people. "Frankly, we are disappointed by these accusations, especially since the statement made by Pauline Hanson is very wrong," said the West Kalimantan legislator.

In fact, continued Daniel, so far the Balinese have a very good cattle rearing system. As information, Bali cattle are the original descendants of banteng (Bibos banteng) which have been domesticated since the past where this type of cattle is called Bali Cattle because of its original gene originating from the island of Bali and then spreading widely to Southeast Asia. farm in Bali. Daniel ensured that Commission IV of the House of Representatives in charge of livestock affairs, has been continuously monitoring the development of Bali cattle which have superior meat quality. Because, according to him, the reproduction of Bali cattle is regulated in such a way as to prevent inbreeding which can reduce the quality of cows.

“We see that the Bali cattle population is well maintained so that it increases productivity. From this it should be seen that cattle rearing in Bali is carried out systematically and comprehensively,” said Daniel.

"So Senator Pauline Hanson's accusations against cattle rearing in Bali are very baseless," he continued.

Daniel added, Indonesia through the Ministry of Agriculture has tried to handle FMD quickly and effectively. Including through the massive provision of drugs and vitamins as well as vaccinations to cows throughout the country. He also hoped that Pauline's statement would not interfere with the cooperation between the two countries.

"We hope that Pauline Hanson's accusations will not affect the cooperation between Indonesia and Australia, especially in the fields of economy, trade and animal husbandry," said Daniel.
