JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has asked the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to prevent four people from going abroad. The prevention was carried out to investigate allegations of bribery in the allocation of the financial aid budget in East Java Province for Tulungagung Regency.

"The KPK has sent a letter of prevention to the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri told reporters, Tuesday, August 2.

The four people who were prevented from leaving the country were the former Commissioner of Bank Jatim who is also the Head of the East Java Bappeda Budi Setiawan; Deputy Chairman of the DPRD Tulungagung Adib Makarim; Tulungagung DPRD member Imam Kambali; and former Deputy Chairman of the DPRD Agus Budiarto. The prevention was filed in June and is valid for six months.

"Four people were proposed to prevent it for the next six months until December 2024," said Ali.

He said the prevention was done to make it easier for investigators to make summons. Ali reminded them to cooperate later.

"This action is part of the investigation process so that when the parties are summoned and examined, they can be cooperative in attending to the summons of the KPK investigation team," he said.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named a suspect in connection with the alleged bribery of the East Java provincial financial aid budget allocation for Tulungagung Regency in 2014-2018. This determination was made after the development of a case involving the Regent of Tulungagung Syahri Mulyo.

However, the anti-corruption commission has not announced the suspects. The collection of evidence that corroborates their actions is still ongoing. Later the announcement of the alleged bribery suspect will be delivered at a press conference. The KPK will also present the construction of the case.
