DENPASAR - Grand Inna Bali Beach, which is a member of PT Hotel Indonesia Natour, has sent a letter of layoff (Termination of Employment) to all of its employees, but the opportunity to work again is still open.
"We do not close the opportunity for friends who have worked here to re-apply, and even we provided a reference letter of work experience while here and are welcome to apply when this project is finished," said Director of HR at Hotel Indonesia Natour Yayat Hidayat in Denpasar, Wednesday, July 27.
Previously, the Grand Inna Bali Beach had written to 381 hotel employees to be dismissed.
Yayat said the layoffs were carried out because the hotel had a deficit of up to billions of rupiah per month since the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
"We from PT Hotel Indonesia Natour since 2020, the company's condition has declined, but we from the company have not laid off workers because we still hope that there will be income, especially to pay employees," Yayat told the media.
Over time, the company's financial condition has worsened and in May 2022, Yayat said two areas were closed due to renovations, namely the Tower and Garden, resulting in reduced revenue.
At that time, around 300 employees were laid off while still being given wages and insurance, while about 80 others were still employed in the resort area, until last Sunday (25/7) all employees were gathered to be given socialization regarding the hotel's intention to lay off.
The HR director said the layoffs were the final solution, because the resort area will also be renovated soon so that the entire hotel will be revitalized and closed until the project is completed, and an international hospital will also be built in one area on the land owned by Grand Inna Bali Beach.
On this basis, up to now, around 137 employees have decided to fight and refuse layoffs, which will be finalized by the hotel on July 31, 2022.

"We don't promise separate benefits, but the opportunity (to return to work) is there and can be. Later you don't have to work in a hotel because there will be an area. Here there are area managers, restaurant managers, gardens, so that's the opportunities that can enter employees," said Yayat Hidayat.
Meanwhile, one of Grand Inna Bali Beach's employees, Made Karta (44) admitted to rejecting the dismissal which was considered unilateral. According to him, the hotel should hold discussions with employees, because this decision was sudden and employees still adhered to the agreement when they were laid off.
"What we want is commitment management with an initial promise in April. We want to work after this renovation is complete, technically how management provides it," said Made in Denpasar.
Made said that when they were laid off, the hotel promised to provide training so that the skills of the workers could still be honed, so the cancellation of PKH was still the main goal.
Regarding the opportunity to be accepted again at Grand Inna Bali Beach, Made said there was no guarantee.
"What is the guarantee that if we will be accepted, we will get a work experience certificate, but the company is looking for fresh graduates," he said.
