PALEMBANG - The South Sumatra Police team arrested a teenage boy who was once a prospective bride but ran away on the day of his wedding reception in Palembang City.

Head of Sub-Directorate IV Renakta Ditreskrimum Polda South Sumatra Kompol Masnoni when confirmed said the teenage boy had the initials AB (17) a resident of Palembang City.

AB was arrested at his home in the Lebong Siarang area, Sukarami, Palembang, on Tuesday (26/7) night at around 21.30 WIB.

"Yes, the AB's arrest was carried out by unit 2 of Sub-Directorate IV Renakta, Tuesday night, at his parents' house," he said as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 27.

According to him, AB was arrested for further investigations related to cases of alleged child intercourse, as reported by the family of the woman whose initial marriage was canceled with the initial D (16).

"AB is suspected of violating the article on sexual intercourse with a minor. In accordance with Article 81 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2014 amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning the protection of children," he said.

Kompol Masnoni said that AB's arrest was carried out in coordination with the Sub-Directorate IV of Renakta with several other government institutions, including the Palembang Penitentiary (Bapas) because the person concerned is a minor.

Meanwhile, before the investigators of Sub-Directorate IV Renakta, AB admitted his mistake when he was about to get married at the bride's house on Sunday (22/5).

He did this because he was not ready to be the head of the household at his current age.

"I admit that I was wrong. I had absolutely no intention of committing the act of violence (to D), I only persuaded seduction with the promise of getting married. Then, I ran away because I didn't want to get married and still wanted to pursue my dreams for the future," he said. AB, during his escape he rented a boarding house by working in a clothing store in Lampung.
