W20 Momentum To Promote Lake Toba To The World

MEDAN - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno assessed the W20 Summit event in Lake Toba, North Sumatra, as a momentum to promote the tourism area to the world.

"W20, which was attended by 16 delegates (from various countries) will be a promo about the beauty of Lake Toba," he said in Simalungun as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 19.

The delegates will immediately see the beauty of Lake Toba so it is hoped that they will tell their relatives and relatives about the tourism area.

"So the hope is that not only the delegates from various countries will come back personally, but they can also invite their relatives and relatives to come to Lake Toba," he said.

With the arrival of tourists, the overall economy of the tourism area will grow.

Sandiaga Uno explained that Lake Toba, which is a super priority tourist attraction, must continue to be developed.

"There have been a number of major commitments made in the near future in collaboration with local governments," he said.

The commitments include, among others, infrastructure and international flights that will be opened to facilitate access for tourists. This includes the development of tourist attractions and lodging.

"These commitments are to support the progress of Lake Toba tourism," he said.

Chair of W20 Indonesia, Hadriani Uli Silalahi, said that W20 is an engagement group in the G20 forum that represents women's voices.

Issues raised include gender equality in the public sphere, health, women's economic empowerment, and defense against women with disabilities and rural women.

"Under the coordination of the W20, Indonesia in the G20 forum brings up important issues regarding the role of women, especially during the pandemic crisis, economy, and climate change," said Adriani Uli Silalahi.

The W20 Summit in Lake Toba brought together delegates from a number of worlds to decide what the W20 would put forward for a declaration at the G20 in December 2022.

"W20 priority issues include discrimination and gender equality, economic inclusion, marginalized women and health," he said.
