42 Accidents Happened In Mukomuko During Mid-2022, Majority Died As Students

BENGKULU - The number of traffic accidents that occurred in Mukomuko Regency from January to early July 2022 reached 42 cases with 10 deaths.

"This year there were 42 traffic accidents, 10 of them died, 41 suffered serious injuries, and nine people suffered minor injuries," said Head of Traffic Police of Mukomuko Resort AKP Fery Oktaviari Pratama, in his statement, quoted from Antara, Sunday 17 July.

He said that the majority of the 10 victims who died as a result of the traffic accident were still teenagers and some of them were still students.

In addition, he continued, the majority of victims died due to traffic accidents on the Sumatra Cross Road in this area, namely drivers and people riding motorbikes.

While the cause of this traffic accident, he said, one of them was suspected because the motorcyclist was traveling at high speed so that the driver was difficult to avoid when he met a four-wheeled vehicle.

Furthermore, he said, his party had made an appeal to prohibit minors from riding motorbikes to prevent traffic accidents.

Meanwhile, he said, material losses due to traffic accidents that occurred in 42 incident locations spread across a number of areas were estimated at Rp27.9 million.

Furthermore, he appealed to residents who use motorized vehicles in this area to be careful and always obey traffic signs on the highways in this area.

"Always obey traffic signs, complete vehicle equipment and personal equipment when driving. And always prioritize driving safety," he said.

His party regularly disseminates the 2009 Law on Road Traffic and Transportation, in particular Article 285 paragraph 1 concerning Racing Exhaust Users, targeting students in high school in this area.
