JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) in collaboration with the Pekalongan Police has arrested the perpetrators of the theft that occurred on the Kaligung Train (KA) on Sunday, July 10.

"Within 2 x 24 hours, KAI in collaboration with the police succeeded in arresting the perpetrators of the thefts armed with CCTV footage to ascertain the faces of the perpetrators", said Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 4 Semarang, Krisbiyantoro, in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 13.

Krisbiyantoro explained that the theft in the form of a backpack belonging to one of the passengers of the Kaligung train occurred on Sunday, July 10 departure at 05.00 WIB from Semarang Poncol Station to Pemalang Station.

The bag containing one laptop, one smartphone, charger, flash disk, and several keys was reported missing by the victim to the conductor after the Kaligung train stopped at Pekalongan Station to Pemalang Station.

The train security officer then asked the victim for a brief statement to make sure the item was really missing.

KAI followed up on the incident by reporting to the Central Java Police Resmob and Pekalongan Police Resmob after knowing the CCTV footage which showed the item was taken by another passenger who got off at Pekalongan Station.

After obtaining the identity of the perpetrator, the Pekalongan Police on Tuesday, July 12 at around 17.00 WIB arrested the perpetrators of the theft and brought them to the Pekalongan Police for further investigation.

KAI apologizes for the theft case that occurred on the Kaligung train with the Semarang Poncol - Cirebon Prujakan relationship.

"KAI urges all customers to always pay attention to their luggage. If there are valuables that are brought, they should always be placed near the passenger, for example on the lap so that they can be ensured that they do not change hands", he said.
