Responding To IPW Regarding Temporary Dismissal Of Propam Division Head, National Police Chief: Can't Rush It

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that he did not want to rush into making a decision to deactivate the Head of the Profession and Security (Propam) Division, Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, following the death of Brigadier J or Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat because he was shot by Second Bhayangkara (Bharada) RE.

This statement also responds to Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) who asked Inspector General Ferdy Sambo to be temporarily dismissed because the shooting incident occurred at his residence.

"Of course, we must not rush, and rest assured the joint team is a professional team," Sigit told reporters, Tuesday, July 12.

According to him, for now, the Police will wait for the results of the ongoing investigation. Especially, recommendations from the special team that he has formed.

So, the steps that will be taken can be accounted for according to the facts found.

"The team is working, a joint team has been formed. Of course, later the recommendation from this joint team will be one that we use as material for me to take policies," said Sigit.

The special team formed by the National Police Chief will be led directly by the Deputy Chief of Police, Commissioner General Gatot Eddy Pramono. Then other high-ranking police officers such as Inspector General of Police General Supervision (Irwasum) Commissioner-General Agung Budi Maryo, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Commissioner-General Agus Andrianto, Head of Intelligence Agency and Security of the National Police Commissioner-General Ahmad Dofiri, and Assistant to the National Police Chief for HR Inspector General Wahyu Widada.

In addition, he said, the handling would involve elements from the National Police's Propam Division, namely the Provos and Paminal Bureaus.

"So I think they are also credible to handle this problem," said Sigit.

Meanwhile, IPW asked the National Police Chief to temporarily suspend Ferdy Sambo from his position. This was done in order to find a bright spot regarding the death of Brigadier Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat (Brigadier J) at the two-star police general's house.
