DENPASAR - Nine artists received the Adi Sewaka Nugraha award from the Bali Provincial Government at the closing of the 44th Bali Arts Festival at the Ardha Candra Open Stage, Bali Provincial Cultural Park, Sunday night.

Head of the Bali Provincial Culture Service I Gede Arya Sugiartha said the mechanism for the awarding process for Adi Sewaka Nugraha was based on proposals from regional officials that handle cultural affairs in each district/city.

"This award is a form of attention, acknowledgment, and appreciation of the Bali Provincial Government through the Culture Service, for the achievements of artists and/or art performers in strengthening and advancing traditional, classical, and/or folk art," he said as quoted by Antara, Sunday, July 10.

In addition to being proposed by the district/city, Adi Sewaka Nugraha recipients can also be proposed by the Higher Education Institution for Culture and non-Government Institutions for Culture.

There are several general and specific criteria that have been determined as aspects of verification/assessment as seen from the service, expertise, traditional, classical, and/or folk art fields for the benefit of the community.

"Furthermore, in terms of pioneering and contribution, creativity and artistic innovation in the fields of traditional, classical, and/or folk art," said the former Chancellor of ISI Denpasar.

The recipients of Adi Sewaka Nugraha were given a certificate of appreciation and IDR 50 million each, which was handed over by the Governor of Bali Wayan Koster.

The nine artists who received Adi Sewaka Nugraha in accordance with the Decree of the Governor of Bali Number 454/03-J/HK/2022 dated  May 31, 2022, among others, Ni Ketut Suryatini, S.SKar., M.Sn., (Karawitan Arts), Anak Agung Anom Putra, STT., M.Si (Dance Arts) and Drs I Putu Raksa Sulaksana (Arja Dance Arts).

Then I Made Gde Puasa, SSos.H, MFil.H (field of puppetry), Dr. I Kt Suteja, SST, MSn (field of Dance), Drs Drs I Ketut Muka Pendet, MSi (field of Sculpture), (the late) I Ketut Rida (Regional Literature/Cultural Arts), I Nyoman Geguh (Dance Arts), and Ni Ketut Yudhani (Drama Gong Arts).

"The spirit of ngayah and devotion has been carried out by the recipient of Adi Sewaka Nugraha in the arts to support the vision of Bali Province Development 2018-2023: Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali, through the development pattern of the Planned Universe towards a New Era of Bali," said Arya Sugiartha.
