Kendari-BNN Customs Failures To Smuggle Marijuana Through Expedition

KENDARI - The Kendari Customs and Excise Service and Supervision Office (KPPBC), Southeast Sulawesi together with the local Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNN) foiled the smuggling of marijuana packages sent via expedition services.

Kendari Head of Customs and Excise, Purwatmo Hadi Waluja, in a written statement received in Kendari, Friday, said that the attempt to thwart the shipment of marijuana or marijuana packages from Medan City, North Sumatra was carried out on Thursday, July 7.

"Based on information from the North Sumatra Customs and Excise Office on July 5, 2022, information was obtained that there was a package sent from Medan to Kendari via an expedition service on July 4, 2022", he said, quoted by Antara.

He revealed, that after the goods arrived at the warehouse of the shipping company in the Puuwatu area, Kendari City, his party through the Kendari Customs Supervision Unit immediately moved to the location.

He said that after his party arrived at the location, the package was opened and witnessed by the shipping company, and it was found that the package contained marijuana with the mode of being stored in a package containing clothes.

"Furthermore, a joint team was formed consisting of the Kendari Customs Supervision Unit along with personnel from the Southeast Sulawesi Province BNN and Kendari City BNN to carry out delivery control on Thursday, July 7, 2022", he said again.

He explained that the package was then sent to the branch of the expedition company in the Anduonohu area, Kendari City according to the recipient's address area. The joint team then followed the package to find the recipient of the goods.

Furthermore, on Thursday, July 7 at around 12.30 WITA, the recipient of the goods with the initials MDA (25) came to the office of the shipping company to pick up the goods and the team immediately moved to arrest the suspect.

"The suspect's initials MDA (25) and evidence in the form of marijuana/marijuana with a gross weight of 68 grams were then handed over to the Kendari City BNN for further processing", he also said.
