2 Motorbike Riders Who Hit Twins Sentenced To 4 Months In Prison

CIAMIS - The Ciamis District Court sentenced two motorcyclists to death in Pangandaran, West Java.

"The two defendants were sentenced to 4 months in prison and a fine of IDR 12 million, which if the fine is not paid it will be replaced with a 1-month imprisonment", said Public Relations officer of the Ciamis District Court, Indra Muharam, to reporters after the trial of the verdict in the case of a motorbike crash at the Ciamis District Court, July 6th.

He said the defendants, namely Agus Wandri and Angga Permana, the motorbike rider hit two twins and died in Kalipucang District, Pangandaran Regency on March 12, 2022.

The verdicts against the two defendants, he said, were cut with the three months of imprisonment that the defendant had served.

The trial with the Chief Justice, Beny Sumarno, handed down a lighter sentence than the demands of the Public Prosecutor of the Ciamis District Attorney, namely 6 months in prison.

"What relieves the defendant is that there is peace between the defendant and the victim's family, then there is a request from the victim's family to release the defendant", said Indra.

In addition, the two defendants have also provided compensation to the victim's family so that it becomes a mitigating thing.

"The assembly took this decision by its authority. That is the authority of the assembly", he said.

During the trial, the defendant accepted the verdict, while the public prosecutor was still thinking about the defendant's verdict.
