GARUT - Joint officers stopped the search for a student who was reported missing while camping on Cijeruk Beach, Cibalong District, Garut Regency, West Java. The search has been carried out for the past week but to no avail.

"For the time being, the search has been stopped," said Cibalong Police Chief AKP Saep Balya when contacted by cell phone in Garut, Antara, Monday, July 4.

He said a joint team search had been carried out since the victim Abdul Fatah (18), a SMK student in Garut, was reported missing last Sunday, June 26.

During the week's search, he said, yielded no results or signs indicating the whereabouts of the victim until it was decided together with the search operation to stop.

Joint officers have searched the forest area and the waters on Cijeruk Beach, and it was even reported that there was a foul smell but when they checked the victim had not been found.

"Looked around the forest, nothing, and no bad smell, around the beach also nothing was found," he said.

He said the victim had previously camped with his school friend, fortunately his friend was found safe and confused.

The police, he said, had checked the survivors, but the answer was that they did not know where the missing victims were.

The police chief said that although the joint operation to search for victims was stopped, monitoring at the location of the missing victims would still be carried out. If there are signs, the officer will return to search.
