JAKARTA - Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Komjen Boy Rafli Amar said the movement of terrorism cannot be separated from global geopolitical developments.

"The events of the war in Ukraine and Russia are also related to issues of terrorism," he said at an online discussion entitled "Early Detection of the Mode of Development of the Radicalism Movement" as reported by Antara, Monday, July 4.

He explained that on the one hand there were those who claimed the participation of ISIS under the guise of being a mercenary so that the conditions that occurred were related to the political map of global security.

As a result, said Boy Rafli, there has been an increase in movements by ISIS related to the war between Ukraine and Russia. In addition, the impact of the war between the two countries is the potential for a serious economic crisis.

"So we will see how resilient Indonesia is in dealing with it," said Boy.

Boy explained that from a number of releases issued by several countries, they believed they would face the threat of a food and energy crisis in the future.

If you look at Europe, including the United States, he said, the price of gasoline is already above two euros, or around Rp. 40,000 per liter.

This means, he said, the impact of the war that occurred was the scarcity of oil and gas. Under these conditions, Indonesia will be tested against threats that occur in a number of European countries and the United States.

Nevertheless, he continued, Indonesia should be grateful because it is still able to maintain stability in the price of fuel oil (BBM), including nine basic commodities (sembako).

"In other parts of the world there is anxiety, especially when we are about to enter winter and gas shortages can cause big problems," he said.

Boy Rafli reminded that the threat of a food, gas and oil crisis could potentially be exploited by terrorist groups by building negative narratives.

"So, inequality in public services can be an entry point for building a spirit of hostility towards the state," he said.
