JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) discussed strengthening cooperation in the food sector to conflict issues in Ukraine, when he met with his colleague, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

President Jokowi met the PM for a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Elmau, Germany, Monday, June 27, 2022. Both attended along with Germany's invitation to host Indonesia and India.

"Regarding cooperation related to food trade between the two countries, I will ask the Minister of Trade of Indonesia to immediately communicate with the Minister of Trade of India," said President Jokowi, launching the website of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Monday, June 27 evening.

On the occasion, President Jokowi also expressed his appreciation for India's strong support for Indonesia's G20 Presidency. Indonesia will also fully support India's G20 Presidency next year.

Meanwhile, regarding the situation in Ukraine, President Jokowi reiterated the importance of the war to stop.

"I am glad that Indonesia and India have more or less the same position, including pressing for a peaceful settlement," said President Jokowi.

To note, in this bilateral meeting President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi and Indonesian Ambassador to Germany Arif Havas Oegroseno.
