PDIP National Working Meeting Will Determine Criteria For Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - The PDI-P (PDIP) will hold a national working meeting (Rakernas) starting today, Monday, June 21 until Thursday, June 23. From this activity, the criteria for presidential and vice-presidential candidates will be formulated in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said the national working meeting with the theme 'Strong Village, Advanced and Sovereign Indonesia' will be opened by PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri, and President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will give a speech.

Then, there are several things that will be discussed in this activity. This includes the basic concepts that will be carried out by the presidential and vice-presidential candidates carried by PDIP.

"Other strategic issues that will be discussed apart from the village are also related to the basic concept, vision, and mission that will be carried out by future presidential and vice-presidential candidates," said Hasto at the PDIP DPP Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, Monday, June 20.

It is this basic concept, continued Hasto, which will be taken into consideration by Megawati Soekarnoputri in determining the candidate to be carried in the 2024 presidential election. Meanwhile, the name will be announced at the right moment.

"So when Megawati Soekarnoputri at the right moment makes a decision regarding the presidential and vice-presidential candidates from the PDI-P, all party consolidation, party grassroots movements, and also the conception of future governance have been completed by the PDI-P," he said.

Although still waiting for the right momentum, Hasto emphasized that PDIP is still in communication with other political parties. Because the process of finding a leader cannot be done alone.

"We continue to build communication with the general chairmen of the party so that the similarities to the platform and cooperation in the context of the presidential election will ultimately lead to the determination of candidates," he explained.

However, PDIP does not want to rush to make a decision. The reason is that the current priority of PDIP is to go down and help the community and ensure the leadership of President Jokowi and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

"So that the leadership transition in 2024 will be carried out in a situation marked by success," he concluded.
