JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of Southeast Sulawesi appealed to the public to be aware of the potential for rain with moderate to heavy intensity which could occur in six regions in this province.

Southeast Sulawesi BMKG forecaster Fezal Habibie said there were six areas with the potential for moderate to heavy rain, namely in Konawe Regency, South Konawe, East Kolaka, Muna, Wakatobi and Kendari City.

"Early warning weather in the Southeast Sulawesi region in these six areas has the potential for moderate to heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning or lightning and strong winds," he said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Monday, June 6.

Fezal explained that in Konawe Regency, the potential for heavy rain could occur in Lambuya, Unaaha, Wawotobi, Sampara, Tongauna, Puriala, Besulutu, Anggaberi, Amonggedo, Konawe, Oneembute and Anggotoa sub-districts.

"This condition can extend to the Districts of Pondidaha, Abuki, Latoma, Uepai, Wongeduku, Bondoala, Meluhu, Asinua, Padangguni, Morosi, Anggalomoare, West Wongeduku, North Tongauna," he said.

Furthermore, in South Konawe Regency, the potential for rain can occur in Wolasi, West Ranomeeto, Sabulakoa Districts which can extend to Angata, Landono, Konda, Ranomeeto, Moramo, Mowila and North Moramo.

In East Kolaka Regency, the potential for moderate to heavy rain can occur in Tirawuta, Loea District which can extend to Ladongi, Lalolae, Mowewe, Uluiwoi and Tinondo.

Then in Muna Regency, the potential for rain can occur in Bone District which can extend to Parigi, Tongkuno, Marobo and South Tongkuno.

Next, in Wakatobi Regency, the potential for moderate to heavy rain can occur in Binongko District, East Tomia which can extend to Tomia, South Kaledupa, and Togo Binongko.

Then in Kendari City, the potential for rain can occur in the Districts of Baruga, Wua-wua, Puuwatu, which can extend to Mandonga, Poasia, Kadia, and Kambu.

In addition to the six areas, the potential for moderate to heavy rain in the Southeast Sulawesi region can also extend to the districts of Kolaka, Buton, Bombana, North Kolaka, North Konawe, Central Buton and Baubau City.

BMKG reminded the public to stay alert and be careful of the potential impacts of heavy rain that could be caused, such as floods, puddles, strong winds, fallen trees, and slippery roads.
