JAKARTA - The East Jakarta Social Service Sub-dept. (Sudinsos) distributed 950 ready-to-eat food and drinks to residents of the flood victims of the Ciliwung River overflow on Wednesday, June 1.

Head of Social Protection and Handling of the Poor at the East Jakarta Social Sub-dept., Ridwan in Jakarta, said that the assistance was given to residents in the Kramat Jati sub-district.

"For flood-affected residents in Cililitan Village, we distributed 450 packages of rice boxes and bottled water. Then in Cawang Village, we distributed 500 packages," said Ridwan.

Ridwan added that the ready-to-eat food was cooked in the public kitchen of the East Jakarta Social Service in the Duren Sawit sub-district.

He said the residents of the Ciliwung River flood victims in Cililitan and Cawang sub-districts did not evacuate even though their houses were flooded with a height ranging from 60 centimeters to 1.4 meters.

However, residents still receive food assistance because they have not been able to cook their needs due to the flood affected by the shipment from Bogor.

"This is a request from each lurah. The request is for rice boxes and water for morning and evening," said Ridwan.

Furthermore, Ridwan said that the flooding of the Ciliwung River in the settlements of the residents of Cawang and Cililitan sub-districts is currently starting to recede and residents are starting to clean their houses.

"As for ready-to-eat food and mineral water, they have been distributed to Cawang and Cililitan Villages. Later, the Kelurahan will distribute them to flood-affected residents," said Ridwan.
