PALEMBANG - A man was found dead while driving a minibus on Jalan R. Sukamto, 8 Ilir Village, Ilir Timur III District, Palembang City, South Sumatra.

The discovery of the dead man was recorded in a 28-second amateur video that was widely circulated and went viral on social media.

The Head of the Ilir Timur II Palembang Police, Kompol Fadilah Ermi, said the victim had the initials JO (54), a resident of Jalan Pertiwi II, Demang Lebar Daun Village, Ilir Barat 1 Subdistrict, Palembang.

"The police found the victim in a lifeless condition in a minibus near the traffic light at Simpang Patal Jalan R Soekamto at 08.00 WIB," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, May 30.

The victim was evacuated to the Charitas Palembang Hospital using an ambulance, but at the request of the family, the victim's body was not autopsied by attaching a statement letter.

"It has been handled by his family, while it is suspected that the victim has a history of heart disease," he said.

Meanwhile, based on information gathered from the police, the discovery began when the car driven by JO nudged the back of the L200 pickup which was in front of him while waiting in line at the Simpang Patal traffic light.

A driver who was in the back of the victim's car got out of the car to confirm the conditions, then saw that the victim JO was unconscious and sitting on his back in the driver's seat with the engine running.

From there, the driver reported to the traffic police on duty around the crime scene for further handling, until finally the police handed over the victim to the family.
