JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated that he wanted to hold Formula E with the aim of showing the world the readiness of Jakarta to become a modern city.

From the Formula E event, Anies said that Jakarta residents could start using renewable energy for their mobility, namely electric vehicles.

"The Formula e event sends a message that Jakarta is preparing to become a modern city with a clean environment because the mobility of its residents relies on public transportation based on electricity," said Anies in the Thousand Islands, Tuesday, May 24.

Anies said the DKI Provincial Government had started using electric vehicles as public transportation. Currently, there are 30 Transjakarta buses that use electricity.

After Formula E is held, Anies hopes that the DKI Provincial Government together with the community can take responsibility in dealing with global warming that arises due to air pollution, one of which is by using electric vehicles, both public transportation and private vehicles.

"So this is much bigger than just a matter of tourism, bigger than a matter of exposure. But this is a matter of our responsibility. God willing, it will go smoothly and we will send that message to us and to the world," said Anies.

For information, Formula E Jakarta or Jakarta E-Prix will be held in the Ancol area, North Jakarta, on June 4. Currently, Formula E spectator tickets are on sale.

Meanwhile, the Formula E racing car itself has begun to come to Indonesia gradually starting last Sunday, May 22. In total, 22 cars from 11 teams will be sent to Indonesia until May 24.

The chairman of the Jakarta Formula E Organizing Committee, Ahmad Sahroni, said that the Formula E drivers would make a convoy in the National Monument (Monas) area before the race started.

"June 2 there is an activity for a photo session and a little spin inside Monas and the racers," said Sahroni some time ago.

Sahroni also said that they would not test the circuit that had been built in the eastern part of Ancol, but would immediately race on the day of the event on June 4.

Sahroni explained, Formula E is a racing event that usually uses city circuits or circuits on city streets. So that racers do not need to do a test before competing.

"They don't test the track, they just start playing. They've played in the simulator. Now, Formula E and Formula 1 drivers are different," said Sahroni.
