JAKARTA - Secretary General of the National Mandate Party (Sekjen PAN) Eddy Soeparno has completed his examination as a reporter in the alleged defamation case. To investigators, he explained Muannas Alaidid's statement which was deemed to have violated the rules.

"I gave an explanation that explained to the investigators about the statements made by Muannas which I considered and also constituted a libel against me," said Eddy Soeparno to reporters, Monday, May 23.

All of Eddy Soeparno's statements were the answers to 14 questions asked by investigators. The inspection process takes about 2 hours.

In addition, Eddy did not forget to submit some additional written evidence. The content is in the form of a Muannas tweet which is the subject of the problem.

"Some of what was said earlier was a tweet after we made a report some time ago, there are also a number of things which later we explained what the meaning of the tweet was to us in the context of the defamation," he explained.

Meanwhile, when asked about the possibility of resolving the alleged defamation case through mediation, Eddy was reluctant to comment much. He only emphasized handing over all processes to the police.

"I didn't know I was only carrying out our policy as a good citizen to fulfill a call to the police to provide an explanation," said Eddy.

Eddy Soeparno previously reported Muannas Alaidid to Polda Metro Jaya. The report concerns allegations of defamation.

Reports are received and registered with the number STTLP/B/2107/IV/2022/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated April 25, 2022.

In the report, Muanas was suspected of violating Article 27 paragraph 3 in conjunction with Article 45 paragraph 3 of the Indonesian Law number 19 of 2016 concerning ITE and Articles 310, 311, 315 of the Criminal Code.

This report was made because Eddy Soeparno was previously policed by Ade Armando for similar allegations. The report follows Eddy Soeparno's tweet on his Twitter account. He wrote the initials AA on his Twitter account as a religious blasphemer

In fact, Eddy Soeparno said his tweet was just a form of aspiration or expressing his views. Therefore, according to him, it is not defamation.
