PALU - Head of the Central Sulawesi Province Community and Village Empowerment Service (PMD) Mohamad Nadir said there are 850 villages spread across all regions in Central Sulawesi that do not yet have internet access.

"Out of a total of 1,842 villages in Central Sulawesi, as many as 942 villages already have internet access. While the other 850 villages do not yet have access", he said in Palu, as reported by Antara, Friday, May 20.

He said that currently, the internet is one of the important drivers of development in the village. If a village has internet access, residents in that village can improve their standard of living by using the Internet to communicate with outsiders without having to leave the village to promote the potential of the existing village.

On the other hand, if a village does not have internet access, then the people who live there will not be isolated from the outside world due to the lack of up-to-date information, which will slow down the development of a village and its residents, he said.

"To overcome this gradually every year, starting from 2022 to 2024 we provide internet access in villages in Central Sulawesi. This is one of the main programs of the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government and is assisted by the Ministry of Villages because the Village Ministry also has a program to provide Internet access in 3,000 villages in Indonesia", he said.

Meanwhile, the Expert Staff for the Governor of Central Sulawesi, M Ridha Saleh, said that internet was available in a village. The most important thing to do next is to ensure that the internet network in the village is stable so that all villagers can access the internet for the benefit of knowledge and improve the standard of living and development in the village.

"This is one way to transform development in the village. So how can the village be the basis for increasing development in the region? That's why we are collaborating with the State Electricity Company (PLN) and vendors in the electricity sector which are subsidiaries of PLN to stabilize the internet network in the village", he said.
