PONTIANAK - Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in West Kalimantan, Pria Wibawa, appreciated the Singkawang Class II B Prison which succeeded in thwarting the entry of methamphetamine drugs.

"I appreciate the goods custodians, because of their vigilance, foresight, and thoroughness, they managed to thwart the entry of narcotics into the Singkawang Class II B Lapas", said Pria Wibawa in a written statement quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 18.

He also reminded prison officials not to get involved in drug abuse, and if anyone was involved they would be given criminal sanctions and dismissal.

Previously, inspection officers from the Class II B Singkawang Correctional Institution (Lapas) managed to thwart any attempt to smuggle shabu into food.

The failure began when a woman came to leave food for the inmates in the prison. When inspecting the goods, there was a suspicion about the cooked chili tofu.

Officers checked and found one tofu chili containing one pack of crystal methamphetamine clips and two plastic clips.

"For the umpteenth time, Singkawang Class II B prison officers managed to thwart any attempt to smuggle shabu into food, namely chili tofu. When examined, they found a clip containing 10 grams of methamphetamine and two empty plastic clips", said the man.

He asked all correctional officers at prisons/remand centers in West Kalimantan to always be vigilant, not to be careless, and increase early detection to anticipate security disturbances in prisons/remand centers.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Correctional Division of the West Kalimantan Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ika Yusanti, added that his party would carry out further investigations into who the prohibited items were intended for and would coordinate with the Singkawang City police for further development.

"Furthermore, we will coordinate with the Singkawang City Police for development, who is the real owner of the illicit goods and who is involved. If there is an inmate involved, we will hand it over to the police for legal proceedings", said Ika.
