PADANG - The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of West Sumatra transferred 25 prisoners who provoked and wanted to make a fuss at the Class II B Padang State Detention Center on Saturday (14/5) night.

"After this incident, I ordered the appointment and transfer of dozens of inmates who wanted to provoke a commotion at the Padang detention center," said West Sumatra Regional Head of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights R. Andika Dwi Prasetya in Padang, reported by Antara, Monday, May 16.

Luckily, he said, the situation at the Padang detention center could be immediately controlled through coordination with the police so that commotions could be prevented.

Dozens of inmates who became triggers were transferred to various correctional institutions (prisons) in West Sumatra.

With the details, he continued, two people went to Padang Prison, then to the Bukittinggi, Pariaman Prison, and the Sawahlunto Special Narcotics Prison, each to seven people. The other two were criminally processed by the Padang Police for possession of sharp weapons.

The West Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights suspects that the action of the group of prisoners at the Padang detention center also has a motive to test the strength of their group.

"We suspect that they are also trying to show strength that they can regulate or impose their will because they have the masses, of course the state must not back down," he stressed.

Therefore, the West Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights as the parent of all prisons and remand centers in this province took a policy of moving dozens of prisoners who were the cause of the riots.

Previously, a commotion occurred at the Padang Rutan on Saturday (14/5) night, triggered by a resident with the initials N who asked for permission to leave because a family member had died.

However, the request was rejected by the detention center because it did not comply with the rules and was not equipped with administrative requirements.

The inmates of N who were not accepted were rejected by the Detention Center. He then instigated dozens of other inmates to make a fuss at the Padang detention center.

The 36-year-old man along with about 25 other inmates then shouted and shouted obscenities towards the officers who were on duty that night.

Fortunately, the incident was suppressed and controlled by joint personnel from the Padang Police and the Koto Tangah Police who went directly to the location.

That night, N and his sister T agreed to leave on Sunday morning while completing the requirements and administration.

When N and T were about to leave the Padang detention center for their family's funeral home, the police officers searched their bodies to ensure safety. The police found a sharp weapon.

With these findings, the two inmates were immediately secured by the Padang Police for further processing.

The Head of the West Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office appreciated the quick reaction of the police in handling the incident at the Padang Rutan so that the conditions could be controlled.

In fact, the Head of the Padang Police, Kombes Imran Amir, went directly to the location to ensure security at the Padang Detention Center.
