JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health has integrated a child immunization history recording system into the PeduLindungi digital application to facilitate tracing for various interested parties.

"Usually, vaccination data is written in Maternal and Child Health (KIA) books or cards. Sometimes they are lost or forgotten," said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin in a virtual press conference reported by Antara, Thursday, May 12.

According to Budi, a history of immunization in the community is often needed by a number of interested parties, one of which is a condition for continuing education in higher education.

"Universities abroad need a history of vaccination of prospective students since childhood, vaccination against polio, diphtheria/tetanus and others. As a result, people will have difficulty studying abroad if the card is no longer available," he said.

The Ministry of Health took the initiative to adopt a fully digital-based COVID-19 vaccination system to be applied to recording immunization track records in children. Thus, the vaccine certificate is made digital and placed in the PeduliLindungi application.

"We repeat the success of the COVID-19 vaccination by registering, registering, and storing individual vaccination data digitally," he said.

Minister of Health Budi said the policy is part of the transformation of primary care so that all children who are immunized will be recorded individually and will have an electronic vaccination certificate that is stored digitally.

"Whenever the person concerned needs, he can retrieve the data stored at the Ministry of Health," he said.

Budi said that the immunization data currently available at the Ministry of Health is still cumulative. Detailed reports on child immunization are available at each health facility that carries out immunizations.

"If the person concerned changes schools or cities, it will be difficult, unless he holds the book. Usually it is not stored until adulthood," he said.

Through the use of digital technology, all immunization participant data is entered in digital records and can be withdrawn at any time through the Cares for Protection Application. "We are currently in the preparation stage," he said.
