JAKARTA - Czech Republic's Defense Minister Jana Cernochova said her country was in talks with Germany about supplying tanks when they would send Soviet-era tanks to Ukraine.

The Czech Republic may get the Leopard tank from Germany, but it may not be the most modern variant of the combat vehicle that belongs to the main battle tank (MBT) class, according to Cernochova on Czech Television.

"I think we are on the right path, a good path. It concerns the acquisition of Leopard tanks," he said.

He further explained that the tank is likely to be in the middle between the older version of the Leopard 1 and the newer version of the Leopard 2.

It is known that the Czech Republic has 30 modern T-72M4CZ tanks serving in its tank units. In addition, there are several units of similar tanks that are in storage and have not been modernized.

The Czechs themselves have so far sent several of its non-modern tanks to Ukraine, after the Russian invasion began on February 24.

In addition, the Czechs have also sent more heavy equipment to Ukraine, from army depots and private arms companies, including artillery, combat vehicles, anti-aircraft equipment, and several rocket launchers.
