Accidents During Eid Homecoming And Return Flows In West Kalimantan Drop 44 Percent

PONTIANAK - The number of traffic accidents during the return and forth flow of Lebaran 2022 in West Kalimantan decreased by around 44.44 percent compared to last year's period.

"There were 10 cases of traffic accidents during Eid this year, down 44.44 percent compared to last year's 18 cases," said Head of Public Relations of the West Kalimantan Police, Police Commissioner Jansen A Panjaitan in Pontianak, Thursday, May 12.

In addition to the decrease in the number of traffic accidents, he said, the death toll also decreased by 60 percent, from the previous 10 people, down to four people.

"Then for victims of traffic accidents who were seriously injured, it rose 100 percent from the previous five to 10 people in 2022, and the victims of minor injuries were 13 people or decreased by 43.47 percent compared to the previous year, which was 23 people. For material losses, it rose by 126 percent, from IDR 15 million in the previous year, to IDR 32 million this year," he said.

He said, in general, the Ketupat Kapuas 2022 operation will run safely, smoothly, and under control. "For the return flow and homecoming for Eid Al-Fitr in West Kalimantan, it also runs smoothly, there is no congestion, and or obstacles. Only at tourist location points there is an increase in vehicles, but it can be anticipated properly," he explained, cited from Antara.

Meanwhile, during the security of Eid Al-Fitr 1434 Hijri in West Kalimantan, the police and related agencies deployed 3.057 personnel consisting of the West Kalimantan Regional Police and TNI and other related agencies from April 28 to May 9, 2022.

A total of 3.056 personnel were deployed, consisting of 1.500 police personnel, then 265 National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel, and 1.291 people from other related agencies.

By establishing as many as 59 posts, consisting of 28 security posts, 26 service posts, and five integrated posts, which are spread at points of the homecoming route, crowd centers, malls and terminals, and others in West Kalimantan.
