Civil Service Police Unit Rebukes Pecel Lele Trader Who Goes Viral Throwing Garbage Into Sewers

JAKARTA - Pecel Lele trader in Cubadang, Nagari Lubukbasung, Lubukbasung District, West Sumatra was reprimanded by the Agam Regency Government of Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) for throwing garbage in a ditch which had gone viral on social media.

Head of Civil Service Police Unit and Firefighters (Satpol PP Damkar), Yul Amar explained, that his party and 12 members of the Satpol PP met with Pecel Lele traders on Tuesday, May 10 to warn them not to repeat the act of throwing garbage into the sewers.

"The waste was disposed of by the employees without the owner's knowledge. The owners have reprimanded their employees and they promised to supervise employees and visitors", said Yul Amar, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, May 11.

He said the Satpol PP was still conducting persuasive coaching for the traders.

If they continue to do so, he added, the trader will be penalized according to existing regulations.

"We will carry out surveillance and monitoring at any time. If found, we will immediately take action", he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Agam Environment Agency, Arief Restu, added that the act of throwing garbage violated Regional Regulation No. 10 of 2017 concerning Waste Management.

Article 63 points a reads that everyone is prohibited from throwing garbage in a place that has been determined and provided.

The threat of imprisonment for a maximum of three months or a fine of a maximum of IDR 50 million.

"This is by Article 72 point a, which states that anyone who violates the prohibition as referred to in Article 63 is threatened with a maximum imprisonment of three months and a maximum fine of IDR 50 million", he said.

For this reason, he appealed to residents to throw garbage in the locations provided and not to throw it anywhere.
