Menpan RB Asks ASN To Participate In The Success Of The 2020 Population Census Long Form

JAKARTA - The Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Tjahjo Kumolo asked the state civil apparatus (ASN) to actively participate in the implementation of the 2020 Population Census Long Form (Long Form SP2020).

This is stated in Circular Letter (SE) Number 14 of 2022 concerning Support for the Implementation of the 2020 Population Census Long Form and Active Participation of State Civil Apparatus which was signed on 9 May 2022.

This SE is a directive that encourages ASN employees to succeed in the Long Form SP2020 data collection activity and aims to ensure the participation of ASN employees in the data collection activity. The follow-up population census through the Long Form SP2020 data collection will be carried out during the May-June 2022 period.

“State civil servants in this case have an important role in the success of the Long Form SP2020 data collection activities by ensuring their participation and filling in data on the SP2020 Long Form correctly and accurately, so that they will get more detailed demographic parameters, related to education, disability, employment and housing. ” wrote Tjahjo to SE quoted Wednesday, April 11th.

Tjahjo also asked the staffing officer (PPK) to hold a socialization related to the SP2020 Long Form to ASN employees in their respective agencies.

"Employee development officials held a socialization of the implementation of the SP2020 Long Form data collection to ASN employees in their respective agencies, using materials from the Central Statistics Agency in order to obtain comprehensive information related to SP2020," he said.

It is known that this SE was made to carry out the mandate of Law Number 16 of 1997 concerning Statistics, where it is necessary to carry out data collection activities by enumerating all population units throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia to obtain the characteristics of a population at a certain time, hereinafter better known as census terms.

This census activity is also carried out for the economic census, agricultural census, and population census. In 2020, BPS has conducted the 2020 Population Census (SP2020) which results can then describe accurate demographic parameters as material for the preparation of national development planning.
