BANDA ACEH - The Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of the Aceh Police said four people were injured after the minibus they were traveling in collided with a public transport bus in Aceh Besar District.

Traffic Director of the Aceh Police, Kombes Dicky Sondani, said the accident occurred Friday morning at around 08.00 WIB. The accident location is on the Banda Aceh-Medan national road, Lamtamot, Lembah Seulawah District.

"The vehicles involved in the collision were the Toyota Innova minibus with the police number BL 1024 AE and the Pelangi bus with the police number BL 7919 AA. The four victims suffered minor injuries," said Dicky Sondani, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 6.

Minor injuries were minibus passengers, namely Bismi Syamaun (60), Hasanuddin Yusuf Adam (60), Razali Adami (61) and Zulkarnaen Gamal (66).

Dicky said the accident began when the bus driven by M. Hatta (53), a resident of Geulanggang, Kota Juang District, Bireuen Regency, drove from Medan to Banda Aceh. Meanwhile, the minibus driven by Bismi Syamaun was traveling from the opposite direction.

Arriving at the crash site, the Toyota Innova minibus allegedly lost control and drove to the right lane of the road.

"At the same time, the Pelangi bus was speeding, so the collision was inevitable. The collision caused the front of the minibus to be heavily damaged; while the bus suffered damage to the front and right side," he added.

The victims were then evacuated to a nearby facility. The accident caused traffic jams from both directions.

"We remind drivers to be more careful, especially now that the roads are congested with vehicles because of the flow of back and forth for Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah," said Dicky.
