The Number Of Passengers On The Roro Bintan-Batam Ship Is Increasing, Some Are Lining Up Before Dawn

BINTAN - The number of passengers on the Roro Ship route from Tanjunguban Port, Bintan Regency to Tanjung Punggur Port, Batam City, began to increase.

General Manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Batam, Syamsudin said, his party prepared a spare Roro ship to anticipate the surge in passengers.

"Today the number of passengers is starting to increase. Starting tomorrow we will operate one more ship unit to improve services," he said in Bintan as reported by Antara, Saturday, April 30.

Currently, he said, four Roro Ships sailed from Tanjunguban Port to Punggur Port from 07.30 WIB to 22.00 WIB. The cruise schedule only passed during the homecoming and return flow of Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri.

Under normal conditions, the Roro Ship only sails from 07.30 WIB to 18.00 WIB.

"During the homecoming and return flow for Eid, the Roro Ship sails every time the vehicle being transported is full," he explained.

Syamsudin claimed that the flow of Lebaran homecoming at Punggur and Tanjunguban ports was still under control. The average passenger waits in line for about 1.5 hours.

"Alhamdulillah, it's still under control. In Punggur it's been crowded with passenger vehicles since this morning, while in Uban, it's not too crowded," he said.

Queue Before Dawn

Dozens of passengers from Tanjungpinang arrived at Tanjunguban Port since 03.00 WIB. The passengers were worried that the limited number of Roro Ships would not be able to deliver them in the morning.

"The vehicle was full before dawn. I left the house at 02.00 WIB, then arrived in Uban at 03.00 WIB," said Irna.

Irna with her husband and two children eat breakfast in the car. They want to get to Back Padang, Batam before noon.

"We are worried that the queue will have to be for hours, eventually until the afternoon," he said.

Yeni, a resident of Tanjungpinang arrived at Tanjung Uban Port at 06.00 WIB. At the port, hundreds of cars have packed the waiting area prepared by the port manager.

"Four rows are full. We're outside the row," he said.

Yeni and her family were forced to queue for three hours to sail using the Roro Ship to Batam.

"At the Port of Batam, it looks crowded with passenger vehicles," he said.
