Rain Clouds Cover Big Cities In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected the growth of rain clouds in most major cities in Indonesia due to the influence of tropical cyclone 98S around the Indian Ocean, southwest of Banten, Saturday, April 23.

Reporting from Antara, citing the www.bmkg.go.id page, it is reported that cyclone seeds form a convergence area that extends across the West Indian Ocean, West Sumatra, to the Indian Ocean southwest of Banten and from the southern waters of East Java to the Indian Ocean in the southwest of Banten.

These conditions increase the potential for rain cloud growth, wind speed and sea wave height around the tropical cyclone spawn area and along the convergence area.

The BMKG predicts that large cities on the island of Sumatra, such as Banda Aceh City and Tanjungpinang City, have the potential to experience light rain.

Meanwhile, the cities of Medan and Pekanbaru have the potential for moderate-intensity rain. Be aware of the potential for thunderstorms that are expected to occur in Pangkalpinang City.

The cities of Padang and Palembang also have the potential for light rain to occur. Be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning or thunder in the cities of Jambi and Bengkulu. Heavy rain is expected in Bandar Lampung City.

The situation on the island of Borneo for the city of Banjarmasin is quite conducive, but it is expected to be foggy with air temperatures ranging from 23 to 33 degrees celsius.

Meanwhile, the cities of Palangkaraya, Tanjung Selor and Samarinda are predicted to experience light rain. Be aware of the potential for heavy rain that is expected to occur in Pontianak City.

Turning to Java, Serang, and Surabaya, it is estimated that there is the potential for light rain to occur. Turning to Sulawesi Island, the weather for the cities of Mamuju and Manado is predicted to be cloudy, while in the cities of Makassar, Gorontalo, and Kendari it is estimated that there is the potential for light rain to occur. For eastern Indonesia in Jayapura, cloudy weather conditions are forecast, Ambon City has the potential to experience light rain.
