Vice President: Government Takes Strict Action On Illegal Exporters Of Cooking Oil

YOGYAKARTA - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that the government will continue to try to fulfill the supply of cooking oil in the market and take firm action against those who export illegal cooking oil.

"I think the government is trying to fulfill cooking oil (supply), therefore the government is taking firm action against those who export illegally," said the vice president on the sidelines of a working visit to Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta, as reported by Antara, Friday, April 22.

The vice president said the President had firmly instructed the perpetrators of the illegal export of cooking oil to thoroughly investigate. Illegal exports are those who export not in accordance with the provisions or requirements. On the other hand, the Government will try to maintain the price of bulk cooking oil.

"Because now what we have to maintain is the bulk. If the price of packaged cooking oil is of course following the economic price," he also said.

He said the price of bulk cooking oil was suppressed through market operations. The vice president hopes that cooking oil prices will return to normal soon.

"We hope that with the government's actions, supervision, and market operations, we hope that later oil will return to normal as usual," said the vice president.
