MEDAN - As a form of restoring the national economy, the Pemko Medan collaborated with the Air Force (AU) Soewondo Air Base to hold a Cheap Market at the former Polonia Airport building in Medan.

This activity, which was made to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of the Indonesian Air Force, sells basic necessities at affordable prices because it has been subsidized.

Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution said, with this cheap market, it means adding cheap market points which are currently being held by the Medan City Government at 151 points.

Bobby Nasution explained that the aim of the Medan City Government was to hold a low-cost market to assist the community in meeting basic needs at affordable prices in the month of Ramadan. In addition, this cheap market is also to reduce the rate of inflation.

Bobby Nasution also asked the OPD, especially the Trade Office, to be able to maintain the quality and quality of the goods.

"Even though the price in the market is cheap below the market, I have asked the Trade Office to maintain the quality and quality of the goods," said Bobby Nasution, Wednesday, April 20.

Meanwhile, Danlanud Soewondo Colonel Pnb Reka Budiarsa explained that this activity was carried out in accordance with the directions and orders of the TNI AU leadership. In addition to the cheap market, vaccinations are also held to boost the number of communal immunity in the city of Medan.

"We were ordered by the leadership of the Indonesian Air Force to coordinate with the City Government to hold a cheap market. This means that this cheap market is not only part of the 76th Anniversary of the Indonesian Air Force but also as a form of helping the national economy, so that the public can be helped by the cheap market which is held for two days. this," said Colonel Reka.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Medan City Trade Office, Damikrot, explained that all basic necessities in the cheap market, including the former Polonia Airport building, were a collaboration with producers.

Where the price of the basic food items has been subsidized by the Medan City Government so that the price on the cheap market is below the market price. This is done so that all basic needs are affordable for the people of Medan.

"All the prices of basic necessities that we sell in the cheap market are below market prices because they have been subsidized by the Medan City Government. In addition, we don't buy all the basic necessities that we sell but use the goods storage system," he explained.

"This means that all of these goods belong to the producers, which are entrusted to the Trade Office and then we sell them to the public at subsidized prices," he said.
