MEDAN - Army Sergeant Suardi, a member of the TNI (Indonesian Army) who served at the Koramil 0201-06/Medan Sunggal, Medan, North Sumatra became a victim of a stabbing. The perpetrators are suspected to be people with mental disorders (ODGJ).

Medan Sunggal Police Chie, Commissioner Chandra Yudha Pranata, said the incident occurred at the Pinang Baris Terminal, Medan. At that time, Serda Suardi was chatting with residents.

"In Terminal Pinang Baris we are still chatting. Indeed, that is the area he is under, patrolling", said Commissioner Chandra, Wednesday, April 20.

However, while they were chatting, suddenly the perpetrator came from behind. Without further ado, the perpetrator immediately slashed Serda Suardi with a sharp weapon.

As a result of the incident, Serda Suardi was immediately taken to the hospital for help.

Obtaining this information, the police conducted an investigation and hunted down the perpetrators. The perpetrator has now been detained by the police.

"He has been (arrested). His initials are HS", he said.

Commissioner Chandra said that the perpetrator was suspected of having a mental disorder to the point of slashing Serda Suardi. However, the police are still waiting for the results of the examination from the doctor regarding this matter.

"According to statements from nearby witnesses, there is (a mental disorder), but that will be later. What we mean is that we will prove it first with a doctor's statement from the hospital", he said.
