No Budget, DKI Asks For Private Assistance To Build Jakarta Lenggang Kiosk That Burns Out

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said the DKI Provincial Government would ask for private assistance in a cooperation scheme to rebuild the Lenggang Jakarta kiosk in the Monas area which burned down some time ago.

"So, the IRTI Monas (kiosk in the area) that caught fire will work together with the private sector. But we can't say which party will cooperate with the provincial government," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, April 20.

Riza hopes that the kiosk construction can be carried out as soon as possible. This is because the people who previously traded in Lenggang Jakarta needed their means of livelihood.

"Yes, hopefully as soon as possible, hopefully after Lebaran we will start, yes. Because the kiosks at IRTI are needed for the community," he said.

Riza admitted that his party is cooperating with the private sector in the kiosk construction because the DKI Provincial Government does not have the budget that can be channeled from the APBD to rebuild the kiosk left by former DKI Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok.

"There is no APBD budget (to rebuild Lenggang Jakarta. There is no plan for when the rebuilding will start," he said.

As previously reported, hundreds of stalls belonging to traders in Lenggang Jakarta, precisely in the IRTI area of the National Monument (Monas), Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta, were burnt down. It is known, the fire began to appear on Thursday, March 31, at dawn.

At that time, the fire spread quickly due to a lot of flammable materials. The area of the object that was burned was about 600 square meters with an estimated loss of IDR 1.2 billion.

In the investigation process, the Gambir Police have named WST (20) as a suspect for the charred hundreds of kiosks in Lenggang Jakarta.

It turned out that after being investigated, initially WST burned only one kiosk, owned by a man with the initials DL at that location. However, because the fire was getting bigger, so it spread to other shops.

WST burned DL's kiosk because he felt hurt. DL has another partner that makes WST hurt.

As a result of his actions, WST was charged with Article 187 of the 1st Criminal Code and Article 188 of the Criminal Code related to intentionally causing a fire with a threat of 12 years in prison.
