Narcotics Circulation Case In Banyumas, Police Secure 0.6 Grams Of Methamphetamine

BANYUMAS - The Banyumas City Police Narcotics Investigation Unit uncovered a case of drug trafficking of methamphetamine in Beji Village, Kedungbanteng District, Banyumas.

Banyumas Police Chief, Commissioner Edy Suranta Sitepu, said the disclosure of this case was based on information obtained by his party on Monday 18 April.

"In this case, we have named a suspect with the initials IF (22), a resident of Cindaga Village, Kebasen District, Banyumas", said Edy in Purwokerto, Banyumas, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 19.

Edy explained that after receiving the information, the police carried out an investigation and finally arrested a man with the initials IF who is suspected of conducting drug transactions on Jalan R. Soepono, Beji.

"IF was secured by members of the Narcotics Unit on Monday, April 18, at 21.00 WIB. When the jacket in question was searched, a pack of cigarettes was found which contained a pack of cigarettes containing a red plastic straw and inside there is a plastic clip containing crystal powder suspected of methamphetamine with a gross weight of 0.7 grams", he said.

He said that when interrogated by officers, IF admitted that he would take crystal methamphetamine around the place.

In the presence of the head of the local RT (Neighborhood Association) along with members of the Narcotics Unit, IF took a transparent plastic clip wrapped in white and red insulation and filled with crystal powder suspected of having methamphetamine.

"The crystal powder, which is suspected to be methamphetamine, weighs 0.6 grams", he said.

Regarding the case, he said that IF, who has been named a suspect, would be charged with Article 112 Paragraph (1) and Article 114 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

"We have secured the perpetrator and the evidence at the Banyumas Police Headquarters for further investigation", he said.
