Refli Harun Suspects Tsamara Amany's New Office Forbids Its Employees From Being Involved In Political Parties

JAKARTA - Tsamara Amany has resigned as a cadre and administrator of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). State legal system expert Refly Harun suspects that there are two reasons behind the 25-year-old woman's resignation.

"I suspect there are only two reasons, idealistic reasons and pragmatic reasons," said Refly on his YouTube account Refly Harun, Monday, April 18.

Refly suspected that Tsamara had given up his position as chairman of the PSI DPP and left the party that raised him because he chose to work in one of the institutions. According to him, the institution does not allow its employees to become administrators of political parties.

"It could be an institution that is engaged in women's empowerment. Maybe the one funded by the founding," Refly guessed.

While the second reason for Tsamara leaving PSI, Refly suspects that the former spokesperson for the Presidential Candidate and Vice Presidential Candidate Joko Widodo-Maruf Amin is disappointed with the role of political parties, not as he imagined.

"He imagined ideal things, but the fact that his days were not as he imagined. So he thought, 'I'd better quit a political party because suddenly the house of political parties feels cramped to explore many things'," he said.

Refly said political parties can make a person vertically mobile. Can feel close to important people in this country, can even conspire business. However, political parties can also make a figure quickly get off the political radar.

"But on the other hand, [political parties] for other people who desire freedom, the more they are at the top of the political elite, the narrower their space for exploration, especially intellectual exploration," he said.
