The First 10 Days Of Ramadan 2022, The Prophet's Mosque Was Visited By More Than 6 Million Worshipers

JAKARTA - The Prophet's Mosque (Al-Masjid an-Nabawi) in the city of Medina, Saudi Arabia was visited by 6,398,502 worshipers during the first 10 days of Ramadan 1443 Hijri, officials said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, around 132,345 worshipers can also pray inside Al Rawdah Al Sharifah, according to the Public Affairs Department of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque.

The Department said they had distributed more than 1,285,543 bottles of Zamzam water to visitors to the Prophet's Mosque, and provided more than 1,299,510 packaged foods for fasting people.

"The Presidency wishes to provide convenience for visitors and worshipers to contribute to the development of the system of services provided to achieve the aspirations of the Kingdom's leadership," the statement said.

Interestingly, both the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, have been equipped with a copy of the translated text of the Qur'an.

That method "confirms the message of civilization and the global pioneering role of the two holy sites, directed by the country's wise leadership," according to the state news agency.

A total of 82 multi-lingual digital screens have been installed inside the Grand Mosque and its halls, to display directions, with globally approved symbols added to aid in visually conveying information to worshipers.

The screens operate around the clock, providing information about the most important sites within the Grand Mosque, such as the Tawaf (around the Kaaba) and Masaa (the journey between the two mountains of Safa and Marwa).

It also features Hadith (words of the Prophet Muhammad) and prayers that can be read at the beginning and end of worship, apart from educating visitors about health and safety issues.

It is known that Ramadan is the ninth and holiest month in the Islamic calendar. It is also believed to be the month the Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset every day of the month, which is usually 29 or 30 days.
