6,100 Fried Seeds Captured By The Jambi Police Released On Manjuto River Beach

JAMBI - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) released 6,100 lobster seeds caught by the Jambi Police to the Manjuto Beach area of Sungai Pinang, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra.

"This location was chosen based on the recommendation of the Directorate General of Marine Spatial Management of the KKP regarding suitable habitats for the survival of the fry," said Head of Jambi Fish Quarantine, Quality Control, and Fishery Products Safety (BKIPM) Piyan Gustaffiana, quoted by Antara, Sunday, April 10.

The fry came from the disclosure of a case by a member of Sub-Directorate IV of the Jambi Police Ditkrimsus a few days ago in Batanghari Regency, Jambi.

"Alhamdulillah, colleagues from the Jambi Regional Police have succeeded in thwarting an attempt to smuggle fried shrimp in a shelter located in Muara Bulian District, Batanghari," said Piyan.

Piyan added that this disclosure could not be separated from community reports and surveillance carried out by the Jambi Regional Police from April 6-7 2022 and then raids were carried out to arrest seven workers at the location.

"When they were raided they were sleeping and there was a tarpaulin pool filled with lobster seeds," said Pian.

From this case, members of the Jambi Regional Police found evidence in the form of three Styrofoam boxes containing 6,100 live lobster seeds.

On this occasion, Piyan emphasized that the failure of the fried shrimp smuggling case by the National Police, as well as the release of the fry by the BKIPM, was evidence that the two institutions were increasingly synergistic.

He reminded that the crime of smuggling fried shrimp can be charged with Article 92 of Law (UU) Number 31 of 2004 concerning Fisheries as amended by Law Number 45 of 2009 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 2004 as amended by Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation.

"These regulations are proof of the seriousness of the state in preserving lobster as well as developing domestic aquaculture," said Piyan.

Previously, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, emphasized his commitment to domestic lobster cultivation. This is in line with the Regulation of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Number 17 of 2020 which also prohibits the export of fry.
