PLN Notes The Increase In The Drastic Transactions Of SPKLU During The Christmas And New Year Holidays

JAKARTA - The number of transactions for public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays rose 4.5 times compared to last year. This was conveyed by the President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo.

"Until last night, the number of transactions during Christmas and New Year's Eve, compared to last year, increased 4.5 times," Darmawan said, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, December 26.

Darmawan explained that holistically, the predictions of EV travelers passing along the Trans Java and Sumatra toll roads jumped 2.5 to 3 times compared to the previous year period.

To anticipate this spike, PLN's SPKLU capacity along the toll road has been increased 8 times compared to last year's 64 units to 500 units.

"We see that the surge in the number of charging transactions at our SPKLU has increased dramatically, well, for that, we are here to ensure that all our SPKLU public charging systems can run well," he said.

Not only along toll roads, PLN has also increased the number of SPKLUs nationally, from around 1,000 units last year to more than 3,069 units spread across 2,096 points throughout Indonesia.

To support this operation, at this Nataru moment there will be 6 thousand personnel on standby for 24 hours non-stop at all SPKLU locations.

"We also mobilized 6 thousand of our officers to oversee so that charging services for electric vehicles can run smoothly and comfortably," said Darmawan.

In addition, PLN also provides the Trip Planner feature through the PLN Mobile application. This feature aims to make it easier for electric car users to plan their journey with SPKLU location information, travel distance, and charging needs.

"From the beginning to the final destination, it will be easier for motorists to find out where the SPKLU is located and can plan from the start where to carry out charging," concluded Darmawan.
